July 17th Sunday
Clear and very warm today. Laid in camp all day. The third division came up this afternoon. Got an order and had my home ____. There was an order issued today to ____ on the country. General ____ force is ahead of us. An orderly from Washington today reports the fall of Petersburgh. Went to the brook. Had a wash and put on clean clothes.
