May 19th Thursday
Clear and warm during the day. Light showers in the evening. Went to the front with one days rations. Our division has moved ahead about one mile and are throwing up ____ ____. Only heard one cannon fired off while out there. Saw the cavalry skirmishing with some guerillas on the road back to camp about six oclock. It is said that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Regiments are to go home on Monday next.
