March 1st, Tuesday.
It commenced to rain last night and froze as it fell. Continued all dat today.
Just at night it turned to snow. About ten oclock this morning we was ordered out to
the front toissue but just as we got opposite General Sedgwick's headquarters
he ordered us back. Quite heavy cannonading was heard about this time. When we
got back to the park we found that all of the teams had been ordered to hitch up.
Remained so all day. At dark unhitched. Just after I went to bed our brigade came
in so did General Custer with all his cavalry. Orders to move at six in the morning.
Have to get up and issue before starting.
