28th. Sunday.
Clear and pleasant today. Started about eight oclock and after
going about a mile we passed through Carner (?) city. The said city
contains two houses and a barn. Passed throughDuncanville which there
is a house and shed. Passed about half a mile from the river . at three
oclock. Cattle was sent out to be killed and issued. Our brigade is at
Madison Court house about three miles from Robinson River. There is tall
dry grass along the road and the men set it on fire. It burned so fast
and close to the road that the wagons had to stop in some places. ABout
two miles from James City we passed through a town called Duncanville
containing two houses, a barn and a shed.
