27th. Saturday.
Clear and warm all day. Was woke up at five oclock to issue rations
as orders ihad come in during the night tm move at 9 oclock in the morning.
There is a guard left around the camps. The men carry four days rations
and two are to go in the wagons. We only send five wagons with rations
and one with forage. I go along with the wagons to issue the rations.
All the rest stay in camp. I got started about 9 oclock. Passed through
Culpepper and nearly on the same road that we traveled last summer, a
little more to the right. Got outside of the pickets about 3 oclock.
The wagmns are guarded by part of the 119th Penn. Traveled about fourteen
miles. Parked in an open field surrounded··by troops. The wagons '
keep close to the troops.
