Nov. 27th Friday. About half past four this morning we war woke up with the report of guns and the cry of fall in and rally guards. We are attacked by the Rebels. Our guards loaded and fired three or four volleys which drove the rebs away from us but not until they had drove off the seond brigade cattle and killed the corporal of the guard. He belonged to the fifth Penn. He was shot just under the shoulder blade. After the rebs left us they attacked a cavalry train about three hundred yards from us and burnt ten wagons and captured a lot of mules and drivers.
