16th Friday

rained some during the night

& in the morning fed the teams and started

to park where we arrived about

9 A.M. Capt. Weelan and Lieut

Bradford who went to the front

with us last night and started

back about one hour before we

did was captured. Bradford had

about twelve hundred dollars

government funds with him. Capt.

Wheelan had about six hundred

they each had horses

their capture created quite a sensation in camp Lieut and quartermaster Sayre is appointed as Acting

in the Q.M. Dept and C.S. Depot too

last when i started for the

front i borrowed a horse from the

sutlers of that 1st Regt. and while

we was out there the sutler was

all ordered to alexandria. So I

have a horse to keep.
