Oct lOth Saturday Cloudy with light showers went up to Mitchell Station on the Eight oclock train. When I got there found that all was com.'llotion and bustle for they are getting ready to evacuate this place. All of the stores and the things at the station was loaded on cars and sent back to Culpepper. I brought down all of the invoices and receipts for the stores returned. got an estimate and receipts and drew some stores to make up the seven days that the wagon have to carry. about seven oclock PM we got orders to move back to Rappahannock Station. got ready and started. very dark and bad traveling received a letter from mother with some postage stamps in it.
