April 26 Wednesday
Weather very pleasant Started at six this morning passed South Boston and camped at a very small town called Brooklyn. The country that we passed over yesterday and today is very nice. Some splendid _ and good plantations[.] The people here have plenty to eat and live very good[.] After we camped tonight had orders to issue one days rations but as the train could not get to the troops , the order was countermanded. There is a great many straglers we crossed two small creeks today but I did not learn the names of them. Our division was on the right today
