April 24 Monday
Started at seven o' clock this a.m. passed through Keysville and Massing Ford and crossed Roanoke Creek at the latter place. Camped on the bank of the Stanton River. The Pontooners are laying a bridge across tonight. The roads are very good. Weather clear and pleasant. Issued two days rations and had some sales. Our whole train is up with us . Our division is in the rear today. One of my guards went a head today foraging and got chicken ham and eggs.
