(June 29th Monday continued) that it is sams creek and some say not there was a rear guard between every brigade train. the way that we traveled to day looked very much as if rebels was near us. There is a large force reported between Mount Airy and baltimore the railroad is torn up. the [sic] is no traveling on the road now. It is said that General Hooker is in Fredrick city. he ordered a special train to take him to washington but the rebels cut the railroad and so he could not get through
