29th Monday Started about half past five went very slow for a mile or two went fast enough that (we went fast enough) crossed the baltimore and ohio railroad at Morovia station three quarters of a mile from there we passed through the town of New Market crossed the railroad again at Mount airy. Saw the harris light cavelry [sic] here. bought a pie for 25 cents had all the cherries that i could eat there is plenty of them along the road. Parked about eight o’clock near Sams Creek Issued two day rations of coffee sugar H bread and pork Light rain and cloudy all day we passed through New [illegible] Cannistoga [sic]. have not learned the place where we parked some
