June 22nd Monday
Clear and warm today Went about a mile and half to have a bath. Found a nice place in a woods. Washed four towels and one pair stockings. There was some cannonading this afternoon in the direction of Thourough [sic] fare gap. Cavelry [sic] is going out that way. Issued one day rations of H Bread coffee sugar and fresh meat. Soap and Salt Tapped a barrel of whiskey for sale to officers. Their orders have to be approved by the Genl. There was brigade drill today By General Torbert.
