17th Wensday[sic]
It is very hot today. last night we issued one days rations of hard tack coffee Sugar fresh meat and whiskey. In the afternoon I went down to the Station. there is only three or four long low wooden buildings used for government Stores. It is nearly three quarters of a mile from where the train is parked. While there i bought some good lemonade at five o’clock a glass[?] and a small bottle of honey for thirty cents after I got back issued another days rations
