It has been very hot and the dust is about six inches deep. Crossed Wolf run river about three PM and parked about half a mile from Fairfax Station. about six PM this afternoon i got tired of riding and let Corperal [sic] Collins have my horse. I sat down twice [illegible] to rest and fell asleep both times. Came very near getting left both times. I found that traveling two days and two nights with only two meals and no sleep is no very nice [illegible]
