23rd Sunday It is extremely hot today Issued one days rations. Issued potatoes. drew beets onions and turnips for sales to officers.
24th Monday Very pleasant today about seven pm. there was a heavy gale of wind. Expected an attack by Mosby cavalry at night. Was all prepared for them the fourth Regt N.J. Vols. came back to the brigade. they left us at white oak church to do Provost of duty around army head quarters. they are now the strongest regiment in the brigade
