August 4th Tuesday Warm in the morning but in the afternoon a very cool shower came up and after that it was cool and pleasant. issued ane days rations. the paymaster came today. There is an order issued for a roll call to be held in all departments three times a day. a camp rumor says that the fifteenth regiment is to go to South Carolina. Our shelters are coming up. the first regt sutler came up today. They are always around when the paymaster comes. The people around here came to the commissarys and beg for coffee and sugar and on being told that they ยท cannot have it unless they take the oath of Allegiance they go away they will suffer before they take the oath.
