August 3rd Monday Very hot. train went to the depot and brought up ham flour white sugar, beans mixed vegetable black peper, hard bread in barrels and one days rations of soft bread that came from Alexandria. There was just enough of the bread for an issue. The officers did not get any, but there was a barrel of whiskey sold to them which was just as good.I noticed that there was a few pf them slightly drunk. have been very busy all day. worked hard. attended to all the sales and issued one day rations
