8th Monday
The wind and dust blows very hard. Our Brigade crossed the river last night. Wm. Miller and I went to the river with two days rations of H Bread Pork coffee sugar but when we got there we found that the order requiring eight days rations to be kept on hand had been recalled and the troops have only to keep three days on hand. So we had to bring the train back. The men have Six days on hand from this morning. fresh beef and salt was issued to them today our Bakers are at work and we will have fresh Bread for the boys tomorrow
