August 2nd Sunday Very hot today. There was church in the town today can hear the church bells and the town clock. Issued one days rations We have a splendid place for a park. Have put up the commissary tent up and got everything fixed up nice. I wrote a letter to Marshall HcDaniels. Gen. Kilpatrick's bodygaurd are camped near us. They belong to the First Ohio Cavalry and are Independent each one has his own horse.
