6th Saturday
about ten AM we got orders to march. The regiment formed and started about 11 AM. packed up the commissary Stores and loaded the wagons right away after dinner. the train parked just in front of headquarters. In the afternoon Capt George Griggs came here. he told me that the harris light cavelry [sic] laid near our corps headquarters so I got on the mule and went up there Saw Capt. Grinton[?], Lieut Madison Lieut Shafer, and – Wilson of deckertown. When i was coming back it commenced to rain. It showered quite heavy untill [sic] after dark when it quite [sic] raining although it still continues cloudy with the appearance of rain before morning. Our Brigade has not crossed the river yet
