July 16th Thursday got up about two this morning did not get started untill day light. Our train had the advance today. Crossed the turn pike from where we was parked. (Bolivar) and kept along the foot of the mountain. passing over part of the Crampton's Gap battle ground. passed through burketsville and went on to petersville near where we parked. I believe that there is hundreds of bushels of blackberries along the mountain but there is not many ripe. Our sutlers came up tot the Brigade yester- day. Supply train went to berlin and got hard bread hams and dried apples The farmers all along the road are gathering their harvests and in most fields the women are raking and binding. Issued one days rations
