11th Saturday Miller and Johnny went to the Junction with the supply train. I went t o the front and issued one days rations. The brigade lays near Penevola  a very small palce. The pickets are only a short distance in front of them. There is a battery planted just in front of our brigade. got back to park about te at ngiht. It is eight miles from the park to the brigade. the road is full of artillery ammunition and supply trains. Passed through boonesbrough saw a good many wounded there. Our Regt passed through the place about ten months ago. Saw the Vice President Hannibal Hamlin. He was just getting out of his coach at the United States hotel in boonesborough. he was escorted By a lot of cavalry. his coach was drawn by four large gray horses. He was dressed in black pants linen dusted and beaver hat. Quite an old looking man. today I received a letter from aunt Mary.
