8th May Friday
Cloudy but no rain today about 9 AM we got orders to move back to our camps and when we got there we found that there was artillery and wagon trains encamped all around the old place. The Brigade did not get back untill [sic] about two hours after we did which was about 3 PM the ovens which we left had[?] been torn up and the bake houses had been pulled down for fire wood. Took dinner with Jms [illegible] had bisuit and butter, coffee sugar and milk fried ham boiled nice and milk whiskey was issued to the regiments and a barrel and a third sold to officers. Saw [illegible] Jacob Briant[?] of Newton
