7th Thursday
Cloudy but no rain today. The train went to the front today and issued two days of coffee sugar pork and hard Bread. Johnny and Lewis went with the train. I was busy all day issuing to the small messer[?] and Selling. Could see the rebel wagon trains and tents with the naked eye. Got quartermaster Reader’s glass and saw them moving there seems to be a great many of them there. The train went down to the station and drew Stores There is some artillery and infantry going to the rear (but it appeared to be the General opinion that we are going to attack the rebs again. President lincoln [sic] and staff paid a visit to hooker today
