(4th Monday (continued))
formerly a private in Co B Second Regt was killed Lieut Edward Montgomery was very slightly sounded. The balloon was up all day. another man of Co I was wounded and sent off today. Saw between eight and nine hundred rebel risoners pass us today they was all very saucy and impudent running down the union and Abe Lincoln Most of them wanted to be exchanged right away so that they could get back and take part in the fight which they said was going to last several days yet. they was all very dirty and ragged Some without hat or caps, others without shoes and some had no coats. A great many of them was wounded
