1st May Friday
Clear and very warm all day This morning went over the river with eight wagons and issued two days rations of pork sugar coffee and one day of soft bread i was up to the regt it laid just on top of the banks of the river. no one wounded in our regt nor in the brigade except Authur [sic] Knox Co D 3rd Regt There is only our division across now. the bridges are just where the [sic] was before The boys are in good spirits there is heavy firing on the right. about dark there was a very great cheering on the left do not know what it is for Received a letter from Aunt Mary
