20th Tuesday
About eight this morning we got orders to be ready to march at 12 M. we drew one days rations before we started fell in line on the parade ground and the Lieut Col read an order from Major General Burnside stating to the soldiers of the army of the Potomac that they was about to meet the enemy again at Fredericksburg. We went out to headquarters from there to white oak Church and then towards the rappannock [sic]. as near as I can tell we marched about eight miles and rested for the night in a big oak woods. Soon after we stopped it commenced to rain and continued all night. for Burnsides order see New York Tribune Jan 23rd.
