Jan 7th Wensday [sic]
Myself and Mart Kintner was detailed for guard today we was No. J[?] and G[?] second relief it was very cold all day and night. We did not stand on our beats in the night. We went to the fires and sat down. Battallion [sic] drill this afternoon
8th Thursday
was relieved about half past eight AM. This morning we drew one days ration of flour and potatoes in the afternoon we drew one days ration of coffee sugar and salt pork. I believe that we are ordered to keep three days rations on hand
