(Dec. 25th Thursday (continued))
and hoe cakes made from the meal that the boys got yesterday. we had molasses for supper also. I got about three pints of molasses and in the evening we made molasses candy. It was first rate and we had plenty of it. During the day Job Woodruff and some of the boys from the 27th came over to see us. It has been very warm and plesant [sic] all day. I have a very heavy cold and do not feel well today. we drew six days rations in the afternoon. There has not been any drill today nor dress parade at night. The boys are all in good spirits and appear to enjoy their first christmas in the army very well
