22nd.
The brigade band commenced playing this morning and it sounded very nice. They played twice through the day. we had dress parade at night. I was over to Commissary headquarters and did not get back in time for dress parade. there was no drilling today nor any duty to perform so the company washed and rested all day.
23rd.
There was brigade meeting this morning. It was addressed by the Rev. AA Haines the text was the sisteenth [sic] chapter and twenty fifth verse of Proverbs. Soon after meeting it was announced that Andrew Courtright of Co. I was dying in the Hospital tent of camp fever. he was taken when we left bakerville. he died about one PM. he was laid in a rude square box dressed in his uniform. There was eight men
