12th.
Brigade Inspection from eight AM until twelve M. In the afternoon i wrote a letter to mother, and got a letter and two papers from her about 8 PM i got another letter from mother. 13th.
We had battalion drill today saw John Reirson of the Co. H 26th N.J.V., Had the colic got a dose of medicine from the Hospital Steward.
14th.
Had battalion drill in the afternoon the whole brigade and acct Brigadier General Tolbrits [sic] was there.
15th.
In the forenoon got a pass and went out to the brook and washed shirt and drawers and stockings in the afternoon had battalion drill went to prayer meeting at night
16th.
Went over to the Brigade. Had battalion drill in afternoon. George Smith of Harris Light Cav came in camp. Heard heavy firing in the direction of Winchester in evening a heavy shower came up
