No dress parade on account of weather.
17th.
Cloudy and slight showers had a slight touch of diarroehea [sic]. 18th.
Was detailed for guard duty was on the first relief No. 20.
19th.
Was relieved of duty at 9 AM received valise from home containing 2 shirts, three towels, black silk neck handkerchief, white pocket handkerchief, 2 large pices of cake one can of preserved raspberries, and one Bible, and letter form Mother and one from ella. Sold felt hat to Wm Cook for 50. Saw three large cannon go on the Fort.
20th.
No drill today went to the woods to get boughs for the tent. [above this is written:] received a letter from mother and one from ella[?] [illegible]
21.
Went to meeting twice wrote to clark Lane. There were four men joined. One man was baptized. His name was Mortagee Wilson. 22.
Twice the usual number detailed for fatigue duty – myself being one of them. after coming from fatigue i went in the commissary tent to help Wm Cook deal out rations of fresh beef and bread was not on dress parade.
