6th.
Worked half day on the fort had orders to move. Struck tents at 4 PM. Order countermanded pitched tents at 6 PM.
7th.
Was inspected at 8 o’clock AM by Capt. Simpson tents inspected at 10 AM by Major Brown and surgeon Sharp had the honor of having the cleanest tent in the line.
8th.
Was detailed for fatigue duty on the fort – worked all day shoveling one man from Co I was made to stand on head of barrel for drunkenness. Saw Sidney McCarter of Co. D. 2nd Regt. Vols.
9th. Was detailed for special guard duty on the fort – went on duty at 7 PM. Was relieved at 9 AM of the 10th. Went to the creek bathing.
10th.
Was not very well. Got spruce boughs and put on the floor of the tent received a letter from Miss HBM of Newton
11th.
Was detailed for fatigue duty on the fort – worked all day cloudy and showery all day. Bought a revolver of James P. Kelley for twelve dollars.
