Bought my rubber blanket there left there at 2 PM arrived at Washington at 7 PM took supper at soldiers rest slept on the floor but was very tired and slept good.
31st.
Went up to see the capitol and saw some secesh prisoners left there and marched 7 miles to Tennally town pitched our tents and slept on ground. I was detailed for guard.
Sept 1st.
Come of[sic] guard at 10 AM. 2nd. Co. I was detailed for picket duty each received one hundred rounds of cartridges and one days rations. Marched about 4 miles from camp but did not see any rebels was releived [sic] about sundown of the 3rd. Marched back to camp. Wrote to father.
4th.
Was detailed for guard duty.
5th.
Regiment removed to camp Morris bought a pair of boots for $5.00.
6th.
Worked half day on the fort had orders to move. Struck tents at 4 PM. Order countermanded pitched tents at 6 PM.
