July 5th Tuesday
Very hot and dusty today. Went to the front with two days light rations, one day of soft bread, two days beans, dried apples _____ + vinegar. Got through about four oclock PM and back to park at six. Issued rations to officers today for the first time. All the general and staff officers have been paid.
