4th Saturday
Cloudy and rainy most
of the day. Arrived in
Washington about eight
oclock. Stopped at the Hillman
Home. Had the honor of
shaking hands with vice
president Johnson at the
Metropolitan. the procession
passed down the avenue at
eleven o clock. Went to the
Capitol and saw the president
take the oath. There was a
great many people out
went to Col. Rafferty's and
the the Adams office.
The sunsh~ bright when
the president took the oath.
Left on the three oclock
Boat for city point.
