May 13th Friday
Very hard showers and cloudy all day (in header above date). Cloudy and some heavy showers today. Moved about a quarter of a mile and parked for the night. Sent three days rations to the front. Col. Henry is allright[sic] and so is Col Rennose(?). Capt. ____ is reported killed. Also Lient. ____. The rebels have fallen back the wagon that left us several days ago to go for forage ____. Today load then got it at Bells plain landing. Reports say that Richmond is captured by Genl. Butler. ____ ____ mail came tonight the first that we have had since the 5th. Received a letter from Cousin ____. Saw Thompson ____ of the 3rd Cavalry.
