May 12th Thursday
The teams was hooked up about six oclock this morning. Got started half past seven. Passed down the plank road. The roads are very bad and awful muddy. ____ train(?) are moving abreast(?). Parked somewhere in the vicinity of Marye Heights where the fight was last spring. The cannonading is awful. I think it is heavier than yesterday. Saw between five and sixe thousand rebel prisoners. It is said that we took forty pieces of artillery from them this morning. Saw Albert _____ and _____ of the 1st Cavalry. Saw a good many of the 3rd Cavalry. The brigade has been engaged
