23rd Friday
Traveled all night and
overtook the troops at
Woodstock this morning
about eight oclock. rhere
is a great many prisoners with
them Issued and started
back with a party of six
at one oclock.
reports of Guerrillas on
the road. Saw three
between Middletown and
Newtown. did not stop
to say anything to them nor (?)
they to us but each
party galloped away
in opposite directions
arrived in camp about
eight oclock. the train
had moved to the opposite
side of the town. I am tired
out.
