Clear and awful hot in the morning. In the afternoon we had a few drops of rain and a good deal of wind heard some cannonading today. Wrote a letter to Mr. J.B. Woodruff Rulied (sic) a lot of pay rolls for commissaries (?) Expect the trains to move to Winchester (Va) tomorrow
