June 2 Saturday
Went aboard the "Missouri" about 9 A.M. Started at 10 o'clock the Herman
Livingston started Just ahead of us and passed gaily down the river. After going
a half mile we got aground and could not get off. A US Revenue cutter tried to
pull us off but was unable to do so. Laid until 10 o'clock at night when the
steam brig _ M Pelit[?] came a long and towed us
