Friday July 28th
at ten o'clock went aboard the steamer S.R. Spaulding. Left pier 36 north River
at Eleven o'clock. Major General Foster, wife & child are aboard also a captain
of a captured blockade runner. the ride is most beautiful down the harbor and
out on the bay. Passed Governor & Edwards island. Forts Hamilton. Sandy Hook
Long Branch & C&E. also noted persons in the provisional government of Florida.
Bob Grant of Calcium also Brother of Mrs S. Davis
