18th Wednesday. Clear and pleasant today. Supply train got back about night. Brought a days issue of soft bread. Capt. Ransome  came with the train and brought a saddle and bridle for Capt. Fith.It cost a hundred and fifty dollars and was bought and presented by the employees of the commissary dept. It was presented about eight oclock. All of the staff and the brigade band was present. It was presented by William J. Miller who made a neat and appropriate speech. I gave fifteen dollars toward it. It surpasses the saddle presented to Capt. Wheelan on the 29th of Sept. The presentation passed off very quietly and pleasantly.
