May 7th Saturday
Clear and very warm today. After starting this morning we went down on the plank road towards Chancellorsville. Parked(?) near that place and had breakfast. The wounded of our corps are near us. It is the most sickening sight that I ever saw. Can only hear of about three hundred men left in our brigade. Con hear nothing at all of the fifteenth. They made a charge last night and that is the last heard of them. Saw ___ Gray(?) of the third ___ cavalry. 12th heard from the brigade. Their loss not as heavy as supposed(?) at first. Capt. Hamilton and ____ are wounded. Col ____ is supposed to be killed. Capt ___ Cooke
