7th Wensday got up between two and three oclock packed up and got started about five. the road was very poor for . a mile or two. then it was first rate. got to culpepper about ten oclock. I am the only one in our Dept that is with the train. we passed through the town and parked on a hill just out side of the palce In the afternoon I got a pass from the Provost Marshall to go to mitchell station to see Capt Fith. but after I got the pass I found that there was no more trains going out today. So I got the pass dated for tomorrow In the evening it commenced to rain. It had been cloudy all day
