May 20 Saturday
Cloudy with showers all day went in Richmond with two wagons to draw stores. Was over a good portion of the city It is a very nice place saw castle Thunder and Libby Prison. Drew and issues soft bread. The first we have had since breaking camp at Parke Station. Issued four days rations[.] Major Snodgrass was thrown from his horse today and seriously injured[.] Crossed from Manchester to Richmond on pontoon bridge the other bridges were distroyed a large portion of the city is burned.
