May 9 Tuesday
Weather pleasant with light showers no news except camp rumor the most important of which is that Genl. Halleck has made application to keep the sixth corps in this state to do provost duty. this does not suit the boys and many curses are uttered at Genl Halleck. Warren Potter & Mart Kintner went out horseback riding with some Southern ladies today. Mart gave me a beautiful bouquet gathered from a garden near Head Qus.
