April 28 Friday
Clear and very warm. Changed Headquarters and moved nearer to the railroad and river. Issued two days rations. A salute was fired in honor of Johnston surrender[ . ] wrote to sister Ella. Hired a negro to cook for us.
April 29 Saturday
Clear most of the day showers in the afternoon and evening went to the supply
train. Had to show my pass five times Took a bath and had all of my clotheswashed.
