April 1 Saturday
Clear and very pleasant unloaded my sales wagon and commenced selling to officers. Took the house t hat was built for the . At dusk had orders to load my sales in the wagon. Later in the evening orders came to pack up everything . There has been heavy firing all day on the left. At eleven o'clock tonight the batteries and forts opened along the whole line our corps goes to Fort Fisher where they are to make a charge The rebel batteries do not reply to ours except in front of the ninth corps where the firing is equal to any that I have ever heard. There is some musketry there now.
